The Obituary App 2.6.2

The Obituary App is a convenient platform that organizes obituaries from funeral homes across America, providing users with a centralized location to view multiple obituaries. This app includes two obituary feeds, allowing users to save and manage multiple cities in the menu section labeled "Manage Cities". In order to populate obituaries, users must follow at least one city in a feed.

We recommend that users place larger towns in their "Focused" feed. By doing so, users will only see obituaries from funeral homes in that particular city or deaths that have occurred within that city.

For smaller cities, we encourage users to include them in their "Relevant" feed. In this case, if an obituary mentions a specific town, it will be displayed in the "Relevant" feed. For example, if a descendant was born, married, or previously lived in XYZ city, or if there are relatives residing there, the obituary will show up in the user's feed if they are following XYZ city.

The obituary feed consists of Obituary cards, which resemble driver's licenses. Each card includes the decedent's name, photo, and age (if available), as well as the city where the death occurred. Users have multiple functions at their disposal on each obituary card. These functions include expressing condolences, sending flowers through the funeral home website, viewing the full obituary, sharing via email or social media, saving to one's personal memory wall, indicating an intention of attending the funeral or memorial service, or reporting any misinformation found in the obituary.

Users also have the ability to claim an obituary posted on our platform and become its administrator. As an administrator, one can allow or reject submissions from other users and enable comments or photo sharing.

Furthermore, our app offers a vast historical database that provides information on individuals who passed away "On This Day". This feature can be accessed through the menu section for those interested in engaging with interesting historical reading material.

Obituaries serve as a means for families to summarize the life of a loved one or express their feelings in words. Additionally, obituaries provide awareness of the day, time, and place of a funeral or memorial service. In times of difficulty, our app aims to foster a sense of community between family, friends, business relationships, and acquaintances who wish to offer support and be present for those experiencing loss.
